The protein treatment can also be used in tandem with other things like coloring or curling hair into a perm and is highly recommended for hair that:
- Is weak or brittle due to a constant regime of heat treatments (blow-drying, straightening).
- Is damaged due to chemical over-processing.
- Has less color-holding capacity.
Well, does that sound like just the thing you were looking for? Are you now wondering how to apply the protein treatment for the best results? We’ve got you covered!
How to Use ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment
Wash your hair: Before we get to work here, it’s important to have clean hair. Clean hair lets the protein treatment bond better to it and yields better results. Get a good, gentle rinse-out and towel-dry your hair for the best results.
Apply the treatment: Once your hair is washed and dried, it’s time to work the protein treatment in your hair. Start by dividing your hair into small sections and evenly distribute the treatment among the sections. Repeat until all your hair is covered and saturated with the protein treatment and use a wide-tooth comb to blend the solution evenly throughout the hair.
Apply heat: After your hair is fully covered with the ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment, do not cover it with a plastic cap. Leave it uncovered and apply medium heat to your hair. As the treatment sets into your hair and dries, your hair will become hard. It’s important to not comb or agitate your hair during the drying process. A hand-held dryer can be used to apply the heat but refrain from combing or brushing your hair while applying the heat. Letting the treatment sit in your hair for about 20-45 minutes, depending on the length and thickness of your hair, lets the protein treatment bond with your hair and do what it does best.
Rinse it out: Once the protein treatment has dried in your hair and your hair feels like you used a whole bottle of hair spray to set it, it’s time to rinse out the solution. Use warm water for rinsing the treatment out gently. Make sure that all of the protein treatment is rinsed out before moving on to the next step.
Apply moisturizer: After rinsing out the protein treatment, apply the ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer to lock in the moisture.
Gently apply the Balancing Moisturizer to your scalp and work your way through your hair, distributing it evenly throughout your tresses. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly, and voila! All done!
Tips and Tricks
The ApHogee Two-Step Protein Treatment works great in restoring damaged hair. It can also be used along with other chemical treatments such as bleaching to reduce the damage to the hair. Bleach your hair just like you would any other day, rinse it out and follow the directions for the application of the protein treatment.
You may want to use the protein treatment before coloring your hair as it can reduce the color fading, especially if your hair is porous. Apply the protein treatment in your hair a week prior to getting your hair dyed. Alternatively, you can also incorporate both in one session. After rinsing out the protein treatment, towel-dry your hair and apply the coloring mix. Rinse out the hair dye and apply the ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer for more balanced and moisturized hair.
In case of chemically straightening your hair, it’s best to apply the treatment either before or after 24 hours of the application of a relaxer. Relaxers are mostly alkaline, while the protein treatment has an acidic pH, so the waiting time is necessary for the scalp and hair to maintain their pH.
